What % of artist sales is reasonable to take for a record producer?

I have a small recording studio, and have been approached by an artist that wants me to take a % of sales rather than my standard hourly studio recording, mixing, mastering & production rate.

    Sales were since you are taking delayed payment the artist has sold before then he should be around 30.
